Flame Retardant CG718
CG718 can give polyester filled cotton staple fiber a smooth touch (similar to the touch of thin silicone) and excellent fluffiness. The product has antistatic property and does not contain silicone. Meanwhile, it contains flame retardant additives. If the user uses this product correctly, the fiber produced can pass some specific combustion tests.

1. Emulsion Preparation Method
(1) Add a certain amount of deionized water (30-40℃) into the preparation tank, then start to churn;
(2) Add the required CG718 according to the calculated amount;
(3) Continue to stir, and you can get a uniform emulsion;
(4) In general, the effective concentration of the emulsion is 2-5%. Users can adjust it according to the actual production process and equipment situation.
ATTENTION: In winter, the oil may be thickened at low temperatures. Therefore, it is best to keep the product in a place where the room temperature is higher than 20℃. If the product is frozen, be sure to place the oil drum in a place with a higher temperature (such as 25-40℃) to warm up the oil before taking it from the drum and keep it for a certain period of time (for example, put the oil drum in the area with higher temperature of the spinning workshop for 2~4 days before use.). Before taking the oil out of the drum, it is best to stir the oil evenly with a stirrer first.
2. Emulsion Application Method and Determination of Oiling rate
It can be sprayed with oil in front of the oven or in the oil tank in front of the crimping machine. The key is that the oil concentration on the fiber is 0.3-0.4% after the fiber is dried.
3. Process Notices
(1) If the oil is sprayed on the fibers before the oven and after the crimping machine, the temperature of the oven does not need to be very high (the oil does not need to be cross-linked) on the premise of drying and a certain degree of fiber heat setting. Overheat will reduce the smoothness of the fiber.
(2) On the premise of ensuring the process requirements, try to reduce the oiling rate of the pre-spinning oil in order to reduce its influence on the flame resistance.
(3) For users using silicone oil, be sure to clean the emulsion preparation tank and production line before using CG718 to avoid the influence of silicone oil (because it is easy for the fiber treated with silicone oil to burn!).
(4) The flame resistance of the filled cotton fiber is not only related to the post-spinning finish oil, but also related to many factors such as slice, fiber structure, and pre-spinning finish oil. Therefore, the fiber manufacturer should send the fiber produced with CG718 to the relevant testing organization, and inspect according to the flame retardant test method and standard specified by the end market.
4. Safety Tips
Please follow the industrial hygiene procedures and wear safety goggles and protective gloves when using chemical products. If liquid comes in direct contact with eyes, immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention. If liquid spill occurs, handle it with adsorbing materials, such as sand, soil and wood. Store the liquid spill into trash barrels and follow local regulations for handling. Before using the product, please carefully read the manufacture’s data sheets and the container labels for safe operation.
